Using my dads sanding tool, i was able to get it as smooth and angular as i wanted. All within a few hours!
The trick to that was adding a lot of pressure while sanding but be careful cause while doing that, it wore out my arm and was sore all night and into the next day.
though...I'll say it was worth it b/c i've wanted to work on this since November.
Once i got it smooth, i began to lightly add the few layers of gesso paint to the blade (right pic) so that when i start adding color, the wooden surface will be ready.
I forget what kind of wood this is...but you can find a thick enough/light enough sheet at Home Depot for $17
I have seen other cosplayers do this and i have always wanted to try it!
Using pink insulation foam board for the details.
Whats nifty about this stuff is that you can use sand-paper on it!!
I just have to get this cut out, glue it, add other details and start making the sheath.
